New Wave In Progress

Finished cutting all the odds and ends for my new wave quilt.  Here it is all laid out...

San Diego Wedding

Finally finished this dress for my mom to wear to a wedding.  She says it may be too flashy for a Kansas wedding, but it will work in California.  The wedding is today!  Lot's of pattern drafting and re-pattern drafting involved on this dress.  Sewing the fringe was a little tricky, but not quite as bad as anticipated.

buttons!

We just got back from vacation in Baltimore/ DC/ Philadelphia area.  One day we visited the small town of Havre de Grace on the Chesapeake Bay.  A lovely little town with a gem!  A button shop with all kinds of eye candy.  There were these brooches...

Made by the owner, an older lady who has obviously been collecting buttons for quite some time.  There were some ladies in there bartering with her and she said,  "This is my button museum and I am fine with these staying under this glass and people can just come in and look at them under the glass.  Be glad that I am letting you touch the things in my button museum."

And then there was her button art...

My boys purchased some little mice made from nut shells, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners.  And she gave them each a worley gig, which is basically a button with string strung through two holes and you spin it around.

Here are the buttons I left with.  from 50c to $2 each.  I am sure I will have no trouble figuring out what to do with them.  Perfect for little dresses!

You can check out her website.  It looks like the store...loads of buttons with no prices listed, so you have to ask.  www.artpantheonbuttons.com
