Retro Apron

Just finished this much needed apron for Sophia.  She loves to help in the kitchen, which is great, but she can make quite a mess.  Luckily I had a little fabric left over from a dress I made for my friend's daughter.

I did a binding around all the edges with the green fabric.  Check out in the next picture, it actually has tiny spatulas and forks.

I lined the inside with this nostalgic fabric.  It funny how simple words like pencil and cookies can be so cute!

What's going on with her hair?

Baby Doll

I just finished the doll I have been working on for my friend, Marcie, due with a baby girl soon.  I am really happy with the felt hair instead of yarn.  The head is a little floppy, so I may attach the neck differently next time I make a doll.

I used Roses in Plum from the Far Far Away collection by Heather Ross.  I really like the linen texture.  I think it goes really well with the aged classic rag doll look.

I may have a hard time getting Sophia to give it up!

I think I will be making another again really soon.  Sophia's Birthday is in April.

Piperoids and A Doll

My boys are loving these new Japanese straw robot things...Piperoids.  Luke loves building and James is very creative so these suit them both.  They come as a package of straws and you cut all the pieces and fit them inside each other.

I have been working on....
A Doll!

Something very new to me.  I have a baby shower to go to next Saturday.  An old friend, and I wanted to give her something special.  I am keeping it simple with long straight arms and legs and a triangle body/dress.  I was trying to decide between felt or yarn hair, but I think I have settled on felt.

Vintage Hankies...So many uses

I bought this lantern a few years ago.  Recently I decided to spruce it up by decoupaging vintage hankies onto the glass.

This shabby chic lantern currently lives in this cabinet in my living room along with some cook books and my canning jars.

Valentine

I had a little craft ready for my boys to but together this morning.  I incorporated in a little bible lesson (I homeschool so everything turns into school).  We talked about how all the love here on earth is just a shadow of God's love for his bride, the church.  We love him because he first loved us.  And read a story about St. Valentine.

This is a little wall art I am working on for Sophia's room.  I plan to do a little more stitching, maybe a heart and the word "TEA", and then stretch it onto a small frame.

We got Sophia a tea set for Christmas and we play with it a lot with just water.  My husband actually had the idea to hang these shelves and put little hooks underneath to hang the tea cups.

Don't you love piles of beautiful quilts?

Rag Quilt

My first, and probably last, rag quilt.  Cutting it out and sewing were super fast, but I found clipping the edges to be too time consuming.  If I was going to spend that much time, I'd rather work on something more detailed.  I am happy with the results, though.  I used some of Amy Butlers home dec fabrics with some pink chenille and a turquoise sweater, along with some basics.

We use it for tea party picnics a lot.

Anna dress for Sophia

Thanks to Anna Maria Horner for inspiring me with this fabric.  The "Square Dance" fabric in berry looks like vintage hankies...My Favorite!  I like to make these little wrap dresses using the corners of hankies for the bodice.

For the bottom of this dress, I just cut a long rectangle and gather it into the bodice.

One of the perks of making children's clothes is you can get away with no zippers.  I usually make the back of Sophia's dresses a couple in inches wider and cinch it with elastic.  I can always adjust the elastic when she gets bigger to make it last longer.

Birdie Pillow

My living room needed a little brightening up, so I made this pillow. I feel like it has a little Japanese influence.  For the birdcage, I traced my drawing right onto the muslin.  Then I cut out 1/4 inch strips of the red fabric and did a tiny zig zag stitch along the edges.

I am entering it into the Bloggers Pillow Party contest hosted by Rachel at Stitched in Color.
